THE FIRST "MEDIATION AND LAW" FORUM

NGO "Ukrainian Academy of Mediation" announces that on June 4-6, 2015, events dedicated to days of mediation took place in Odesa. Among them, at the organization of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation and the Odesa Oblast Mediation Group, with the participation of the Odesa Oblast Bar Council and with the support of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
On June 4, 2015, the leading mediation lawyer in Germany, the Chairman of the Mediation Committee of the Federal Bar of Germany, Michael Plassmann, held a master class for Ukrainian lawyers on the topic "Application of mediator skills in the daily work of a lawyer", and a joint meeting was held at the Kyiv District Court Odesa with the participation of a German expert, the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation and representatives of the Association of Lawyers of Ukraine, during which the issue of judicial mediation was discussed;
On June 5, 2015, the First Annual Forum - "Mediation and Law" took place.
The first annual Forum "Mediation and Law" is dedicated to discussing issues in the field of alternative dispute resolution through mediation with the direct involvement of experts in the field of law: judges, lawyers, notaries, corporate lawyers and scientists.

PURPOSE OF THE FORUM

The purpose of the event is to create a platform for obtaining and deepening knowledge about out-of-court conflict resolution using mediation, the development of mediation in Ukraine and European countries and its application in legal practice (features of the work of a lawyer-mediator and a notary-mediator, judicial mediation: pre-trial dispute settlement by a judge or initiation/recommendation by a judge of mediation procedures and other issues), as well as for the exchange of experience between lawyers practising mediation.

Among the speakers were: as a European expert - Lawyer - Mediator, Head of the Mediation Committee of the Federal Chamber of Advocates of Germany - Michael Plazmann; Deputy Chairman of the District Administrative Court of Odesa Region, Judge Ella Kataeva; Judge of the Malinovsky District Court of Odesa, Volodymyr Gurevskyi; doctor of legal sciences, professor - Natalya Krestovska; k. f. n., head of the Odesa Regional Mediation Group, mediator, facilitator, trainer - Ina Tereshchenko; psychologist, trainer, mediator, candidate of psychological sciences - Andrii Husev and lawyers-mediators.

Lawyers from Odesa, Odesa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions had the opportunity to receive useful information and discuss the following topics: mediation as an effective alternative method of resolving disputes arising from family legal relations; a "civilized" divorce of a spouse who has children and features of the division of joint property of the spouses in a voluntary manner; issues of concluding and implementing a settlement agreement.

Speakers were: Luiza Romanadze, lawyer, mediator, candidate of legal sciences, head of the Department of Law of the Odesa National Economic University, associate professor of the Department of Intellectual Property and Corporate Law of the National University (Odesa Law Academy); Volodymyr Boshtan, lawyer, mediator, Chairman of the Mediation Committee of the Odesa Region Bar Council; Lyudmila Hennadiivna Guryanova, private notary of Odesa City Notary District; Yuliya Bozhko, lawyer, candidate of legal sciences, judge of the arbitration court, Member of the Council of the Committee of Family Law and Property Disputes of the AAU; Tetyana Barabash, lawyer, mediator, head of the AAU Committee on relations with foreign associations of lawyers, lawyers, President of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation.
