A Meeting of Ukrainian and American Veteran Mediators

On 2 December 2025, an online meeting brought together Ukrainian veterans practising mediation skills and representatives of the U.S.-based veteran organisation HomeFront Strong.

American veterans working as mediators within the Veterans Mediation programme joined the discussion. The meeting provided an opportunity to learn about approaches used by colleagues in the United States and to share Ukraine’s experience in developing mediation within the veteran community.

The Ukrainian participants included veterans who had completed basic mediator training through the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation’s “MEDIATION: THE POWER OF CHANGE” programme. The meeting was held as an open professional dialogue with simultaneous interpretation.

Despite the different contexts in which Ukrainian and American veterans work, participants highlighted shared values and a strong mutual interest in continuing the exchange of professional experience.

Meetings like this strengthen international professional cooperation, encourage the exchange of mediation practices, and create a foundation for future partnerships focused on supporting veterans through mediation.
