All-Ukrainian Mediation Competition: Preparatory Stage Kicks Off for Future Legal Professionals

The preparatory stage of the All-Ukrainian Mediation Competition in resolving family and labor disputes has officially begun! This year, 34 student teams from law faculties across Ukrainian universities have embarked on a professional journey to master the essential skills of a mediator and apply them in a competitive format.

The first step on this path was a training session on identifying the mediability of a conflict. The session was led by experienced professor and mediator Natalia Krestovska. Her lecture on the nature of conflict and its diagnostics provided students with analytical tools for their further development.

Participants will next attend two key training sessions—focused on the informational and evaluative meeting and on mediation tools. The competition phase will follow, including a written task, team analytics, mock mediations, and practical communication of the mediation process to parties.

This competition is not only an opportunity to gain practical knowledge, but also a platform for shaping the professional identity of future legal practitioners who choose dialogue and cooperation as core values of their profession.

The competition is organized by the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine (ALCU) in partnership with the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation within the framework of the “CONSENT” project, implemented with the financial support of the European Union.
