Facilitated Session for University Faculty “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Shaping the Demand for Mediation” within the Conference “Mediation & Universities 2.0”
Within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Mediation & Universities 2.0”, a facilitated session for university faculty titled “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Shaping the Demand for Mediation” will take place. The event is organized jointly with the National Association of Mediators of Ukraine (NAMU) as part of the 6th Mediation Month in Ukraine – 2025.

During the session, participants will discuss:
- why it is important to teach the fundamentals of mediation to students of various disciplines, including law, psychology, social work, journalism, and medicine;
- how mediation education contributes to building a culture of dialogue and fostering demand for consensus-based decision-making practices;
- the impact of integrating mediation into higher education curricula on the labor market and graduates’ professional development;
- key aspects to consider when updating the Core Principles for Training in Basic Mediation Skills;
- ways to bridge academic research and mediation practice, including points of intersection, challenges, and opportunities.
The session will be facilitated by Kateryna Narovska, President of the National Association of Mediators of Ukraine, mediator, supervisor, trainer, and university lecturer.
The event will serve as a platform for collective reflection on the role of universities in advancing a culture of dialogue and shaping a sustainable demand for mediation in Ukrainian society.
