Graduates of the Labour Mediation Program Begin Practical Work in the Regions

Spring 2026 marked an important milestone in the development of labour mediation in Ukraine. Through the joint efforts of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the National Mediation and Conciliation Service of Ukraine, and the National Association of Mediators of Ukraine, a specialized training initiative was implemented to prepare mediators for resolving labour disputes.

The need for such expertise is highly relevant. According to Eurostat, in 2024 people in Europe spent, on average, more than 37 years of their lives in employment, while in some countries the figure exceeded 40 years. This highlights the growing importance of effective communication, conflict prevention, and constructive dispute resolution in the workplace.

As a result of this interinstitutional cooperation, the first cohort of mediators trained specifically in labour dispute resolution has been established. Importantly, participants began applying their newly acquired knowledge even before completing the program.

Graduates have already initiated working meetings with regional offices of the National Mediation and Conciliation Service, employers, and representatives of labour collectives. These efforts contribute to strengthening a culture of dialogue and expanding the use of peaceful dispute resolution practices at the local level.

The Ukrainian Academy of Mediation is proud of the program’s graduates and believes that the development of labour mediation as a specialized field creates new opportunities for strengthening social dialogue and effectively resolving workplace conflicts.
