“Lessons of Peace and Justice” Initiative Submitted for the Responsibility Award 2025

The nationwide initiative “Lessons of Peace and Justice” has been submitted for the Responsibility Award 2025 in the “National Partnership Project” category.

The initiative is an example of effective cooperation between educational institutions, courts, mediators, judges, lawyers, and human rights advocates, united by a common goal — to promote a culture of justice, mutual understanding, and dialogue among children and young people.

The project gives young people an opportunity to explore how the justice system works in practice, understand the importance of listening to one another, and develop skills for the peaceful resolution of disputes.

The initiative combines several key components:

• learning about the structure and work of courts;
• developing a culture of dialogue and mediation;
• building skills for peaceful dispute resolution;
• understanding one’s rights and ways to protect them.

In 2025, the joint efforts of the initiative’s partners achieved significant results:

• more than 260 lessons were conducted;
• over 110 mediators, judges, lawyers, and legal professionals were involved;
• approximately 6,100 children across 22 regions of Ukraine participated;
• more than 100 educational institutions joined the initiative.

“Lessons of Peace and Justice” contributes to raising a generation that values dialogue, respect for human rights, and justice.

The Ukrainian Academy of Mediation expresses its gratitude to the Association for the Development of Judicial Self-Government of Ukraine for its partnership and shared commitment to strengthening trust, increasing legal awareness, and improving access to justice for children and young people.

The initiative is implemented by the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation and the Association for the Development of Judicial Self-Government of Ukraine within the CONSENT Project with the financial support of the European Union.
