Online Discussion “Mediation and Domestic Violence”: International Experience and Ukrainian Realities
Every year in Ukraine, from November 25 to December 10, the nationwide campaign “16 Days Against Violence” is held.
We are pleased to announce that on November 28, 2025, a professional online discussion titled “Mediation and Domestic Violence” will take place. The event is organized by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) in partnership with the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation.
We invite you to join a meaningful professional conversation on how mediation can be applied in cases related to domestic violence, as well as the challenges and opportunities that arise in this process.
During the discussion, participants will address the provisions of the Istanbul Convention, international practice and the experience of Germany, as well as the role of social workers and judicial authorities in cases where the use of mediation is permissible.
Registration is open: https://forms.gle/nMdrg5rqdMB6k8Lv8
The speakers of the event will be Anne-Ruth Moltmann-Willisch, retired judge of the Berlin Regional Court and independent mediator, and Antje Klamt, judge of the Berlin Higher Regional Court (ordinary jurisdiction) and mediator.
Participants can expect a professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and insights into real-life practices that will help better understand the nature of conflicts related to domestic violence and the possibilities of mediation in sensitive cases.
