Small grants competition for Ukrainian civil society organisations to develop mediation


The Ukrainian Academy of Mediation (UAM) within the framework of the project "CONSENT: Strengthening Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Ukraine with a focus on mediation", implemented with the financial support of the European Union, announces the call for applications for participation in the small grants competition for Ukrainian civil society organisations for the development of mediation.

Objective: To promote the development and strengthening of specific areas of mediation, including labour, family, consumer, medical, business, environmental, land, neighbourhood and other disputes through small grants programmes for Ukrainian civil society organisations.

Amount of grants: It is planned to provide up to 7 grants for a total amount of UAH 1,700,000. The amount of each grant is expected to be up to UAH 340,000. Applicants must submit a project proposal budget in UAH.

The duration of the grant project can be from 3 to 6 months and must be implemented between 15 September 2024 and 10 February 2025.


The UAM is a public association with the status of a legal entity that was established in 2014.
The main goal of the Academy's activities is to promote the development and dissemination of mediation and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in Ukraine, as well as to increase the level of culture of peace and harmony in Ukrainian society.
Since February 2022, the UAM has been implementing the EU CONSENT project.

The grant project proposed by applicants must meet the following goals and objectives:

Objectives: Supporting the development of mediation in various spheres of public life.● Ensuring accessibility of mediation.● Promoting awareness of mediation and its benefits. Objectives:● Financial support for innovative mediation projects.● Promoting the development of mediation services and improving their quality.● Support for research initiatives in the field of mediation.● Development and implementation of educational programmes on mediation.● Creating information campaigns to promote mediation.● Strengthening cooperation between different sectors in mediation.● Other tasks that are consistent with the objectives.
Geography: all regions of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territories.

Eligibility criteria for grant applicants:
● be a registered in Ukraine public association with the status of a legal entity, the main purpose of which is not to make a profit;
● have successful experience in carrying out activities/implementing initiatives that meet the goals and objectives of this grant programme and be able to confirm it;
● have the institutional capacity (equipment, premises, team, etc.) to implement/report on the grant project;
● have established connections or access to potential beneficiaries;
● have a mediator/s in the team who meets the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On Mediation".


Procedure and deadlines for submitting grant proposals.

1. The concept is to be submitted by 15 July 2024 by sending it together with the supporting documents to the following email address: .au.noitaidem%40mau.tnesnoc

The subject line of the email should read: "Grant Programme 280624-UAM: Name of your organisation". The concept should be submitted in Ukrainian and should be up to 5 pages in length according to the Concept form.

The concept shall be accompanied by
- a copy of the extract from the EDRPOU;
- a copy of the decision to include the organisation in the register of non-profit organisations.

Since the above grant programme is implemented with the financial support of the European Union, the applicant, together with the submission of the concept, must confirm its readiness to comply with the provisions of the standard terms and conditions applicable to grant contracts for external activities funded by the European Union (available for review at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TilUKwWd1bm2EnM3f_KTIj4Le3uz_0fQ/view?usp=sharing).

Successful applicants will be notified by email and will receive the Application Form by 1 August 2024.

2. The application must be submitted by 20 August 2024 by sending it together with the supporting documents to the following email address: .au.noitaidem%40mau.tnesnoc

The subject line of the email should read: "Grant Programme 280624-UAM: Application "Name of your organisation".
The application should be submitted in Ukrainian and should be in accordance with the Application Form received.
