Mediation in English: How to Overcome the Language Barrier and Succeed as an International Mediator
Practical training for Ukrainian mediators to build confidence in international communication
Is it difficult to mediate in English? It can be a challenge. The language barrier sometimes hinders effective communication, mutual understanding, and achieving successful outcomes. However, with the right preparation, it can be overcome.
The author-led training by Barry J. Roberts titled “Mediation in English: Practical Aspects for Ukrainian Mediators” is designed to help mediators confidently work with international clients and partners while overcoming linguistic challenges. Participants will learn professional vocabulary for conducting mediation in English and combine theoretical insights with practical exercises. The program focuses on developing skills for working in international contexts.
Training format and schedule
The training will be conducted online via Zoom on the following dates:
- March 5, 12, 19, 25
- April 2 and 9, 2025
- Time: 18:00–20:00 (Kyiv time)
Who should join?
Motivated mediators with English proficiency at B2 level or higher who wish to practice mediation in English are encouraged to apply.
This training is part of the project “CONSENT: Strengthening the Role of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Ukraine with a Focus on Mediation”, implemented by the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation with financial support from the European Union.
