November 16: A landmark date in the history of mediation in Ukraine

November 6 is not just a day in the calendar, but an important milestone in the history of our country.

It was on this day, three years ago, that the Law of Ukraine “On Mediation” was adopted, which became an important step in strengthening the institution of mediation.

We consider this day to be our professional holiday, as it symbolizes the recognition of the importance of mediation and its role in conflict resolution. We are confident that official recognition of this holiday is only a matter of time.

We also invite you to read an interview in which Luiza Romanadze, President of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation and Head of the EU CONSENT Project, tells about the beginning of her work with colleagues on the draft law on mediation in 2012. She discusses in detail with Olena Dryshliuk the importance of the law for the full development of mediation, the role of mediation in the training of future lawyers, and emphasizes the impact of legislative changes on the popularity of this service in Ukraine
