Introducing the initiative of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation
“Mediation is”
This initiative was launched to convey the main ideas, features and benefits of mediation through vivid images.
Through visual stories, we aim to draw attention to the importance of mediation, show its impact and benefits, and inspire others to join the process.
Stay tuned for the publication of new illustrations that will tell about the experiences of people who have participated in mediation. These are short but fascinating stories that will show how mediation changes lives.
The role of a mediator is to help parties discover new opportunities through well-crafted questions.
These questions enable participants to not only gain a better understanding of the situation but also generate ideas for resolving it.
Mediation is about finding solutions, not assigning blame.
Conflicts often bring frustration, resentment, or anger. But mediation offers a different approach: instead of determining who is right or wrong, participants work together to find a mutually acceptable solution.
It is not just a way to resolve issues but also an opportunity to build constructive dialogue.
Mediation is a space where everyone is heard
In a conflict, everyone believes they are right. But does that mean the other side must be wrong?
Everyone has their own perspective on the situation, and that’s perfectly normal.
Mediation helps people understand one another. It’s not about arguing who is right but about listening to what truly matters to each side. In a calm environment, you can share your view of the problem, hear the other side, and together find the best solution.
Mediation is confidential communication.
What does this mean for the parties involved?
Any information shared during the preparation and conduct of mediation is confidential and cannot be disclosed unless the parties agree otherwise.
According to the law, a mediator cannot be called as a witness in court, as they are not permitted to reveal what was shared by the parties.
This confidentiality is a significant advantage of mediation compared to the public nature of court proceedings and encourages more clients to choose this method of conflict resolution.
The materials have been prepared with the financial support of the European Union within the framework of the CONSENT Project implemented by the Ukrainian Mediation Academy.
