Terms of the competition:

  • Who can participate?

The competition is open to college, bachelor's and master's students of any faculty of a higher education institution located in Ukraine or abroad.

  • Topic and language

The developed digital content should be aimed at raising public awareness of mediation, increasing the demand for its use, forming an understanding of the essence and features of mediation as a general tool for conflict resolution, or emphasising the feasibility of using mediation in various areas, such as family, workplace, commercial, public, civil or other areas where mediation can play an important role.

The language of the information content is Ukrainian.

  • Submission format

Participants can submit their works in various digital formats intended for publication on social networks (e.g. FB, X, Instagram), audio or video hosting resources (e.g. YouTube, TikTok, SoundCloud, Spotify) or any other resources.

  • Length of video or audio content

The maximum length of any video or audio content is 15 minutes. This should not be seen as the intended length of the submission, as often shorter content (2-3 minutes) has a greater impact.

Participants must submit their applications by 18:00 on 20 December 2023 via the website of the Ukrainian Mediation Academy here. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

  • Number of applications

The number of applications from one participant is not limited. Each individual type of content must be submitted as a separate application.

  • Originality

All entries must be original and created by the participants themselves. Plagiarism or copyright infringement will result in disqualification.

  • Consent

By submitting an application, participants agree to the free use of the content they create, including, but not limited to, judging and display on social media and other resources of the Ukrainian Mediation Academy, the CONSENT project and the European Union during and after the competition.

  • The prize

The main prize of the competition is a certificate for the Mediator Training Course at the Ukrainian Mediation Academy. The winner will be announced no later than 20 January 2024. The Ukrainian Academy of Mediation reserves the right to introduce additional prizes based on the results of the evaluation of applications.

  • Evaluation criteria

Criteria for evaluating entries: creativity, originality, relevance to the contest topic, clarity and correctness of the message.

This competition is held as a Ukrainian version of the Mediation Matters student competition first organised by the Civil Mediation Council (UK) in 2023. More information about the Moot and the competition is available here.
