Terms of the competition:
The competition is open to children and young people living in Ukraine or abroad.
Applications for participation in the competition shall be submitted through the form on the website of the Ukrainian Mediation Academy by the author or one of the authors, or by an authorized representative (e.g. parents, guardians or trustees), with the prior consent of the author(s).
Participants can submit their works in various digital formats intended for publication on social networks (e.g. Facebook, Instagram), audio or video hosting resources (e.g. YouTube, TikTok, SoundCloud, Spotify) or any other resources.
If the participants publish their works in the information space on their own, they should use the hashtag: #about_mediation_with_UAM
The developed digital content should be aimed at:
- raising public awareness of mediation;
- increasing the demand for its use;
- forming an understanding of the essence and features of mediation as a conflict resolution tool;
- emphasizing the feasibility of using mediation in various areas (family, workplace, commercial, public, civil, etc.)
- emphasizing the role of children and youth in popularizing mediation.
Language of the information content: Ukrainian.
Maximum duration of one material: 15 minutes.
A series of materials can be submitted.
Recommended duration: up to 3 minutes.
Participants must submit their works by 18:00, March 24, 2025 through the website of the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
The number of applications from one participant is not limited.
Each separate type of content must be submitted as a separate application.
Group works in a group of no more than 3 people are allowed.
All entries must be original and created by the participants themselves. Plagiarism or copyright infringement will result in disqualification.
It is allowed to use artificial intelligence to perform certain tasks, which the participant must indicate when submitting the application. In case of using artificial intelligence to prepare works, participants are solely responsible for the truthfulness and accuracy of the information.
The materials may not contain false information, in particular about the nature, features of mediation and the role of the mediator, and may not contain calls for violence and discrimination, or contradict general moral standards.
By submitting an application, participants agree to the free use of the content they create, including, but not limited to, evaluation and display on social media and other resources of the Ukrainian Mediation Academy, the CONSENT project and the European Union during and after the competition.
The main prizes will be awarded in each of the age categories:
Children and teenagers under 18 - sets of creative prizes for leisure, creativity and recreation from the Ukrainian Mediation Academy.
Young people over 18 years of age - a certificate for a free basic mediator training course at the Ukrainian Mediation Academy.
The Ukrainian Academy of Mediation reserves the right to introduce additional nominations and prizes based on the results of the evaluation of the received applications, including the type of content and age of the participants.
Among the prizes for the winning participants in additional nominations is the opportunity to undergo an internship with official confirmation from the Ukrainian Mediation Academy, which may be useful for professional development.
The winners will be announced no later than April 24, 2025.
Criteria for evaluating entries:
Creativity:
Originality of ideas;
Innovation in presenting information about mediation.
Relevance to the topic of the competition:
Clarity of disclosure of the mediation topic;
Consistency of the content with the goals of the competition.
Quality of performance:
Technical quality of the work (sound, video, graphics, text);
Visual or audio appeal.
Clarity and correctness of the message:
Clarity and logical presentation of the material;
Correctness of information and correspondence to facts.
Overall impression:
The extent to which the work makes a positive impression;
Integrity and completeness of the material.
This competition is organized by the Ukrainian Academy of Mediation within the framework of the project “CONSENT: Enhancing the Role of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Ukraine with a Focus on Mediation” project with the financial support of the EU as a Ukrainian version of the Mediation Matters student competition, first organized by the Civil Mediation Council (UK) in 2023.
